Our history began in the year 1954 in Gamazo, above the National Institute of Forecast. It was that year when the High College San Juan Evangelist opened its doors.

In its begin it was founded by a Marginal Work of Catholic Action and they were only necessary some 400.000 pesetas to start it. In the collection of the necessary funds very outstanding characters from the Valladolid of the time took an active part: professors, the bishopric...

The quota to enter in the College was of 1100 pesetas a month and of 1000 pesetas of registration. The capacity of that building was for 60 schoolboys in two to four people's rooms. The director in these days was Don José Berbel, later on Don Salvador Senén took his got to this charge together with Don Felicísimo as internal life’s Rector. In the year 57 the College moved to the street Simón Aranda, where is located nowadays. The new building had capacity for 103 schoolboys in two to three people's rooms, Don Felicísimo was then the director, but above him there was the Head Council and the Patronage, presided over by the Archbishop.

The times were hard and the amusements of the schoolboys were very different to the current ones. For that time read theater, courses of oratorical or spoken theater took place,  we had an amusing ‘Tuna’ and mainly many and very good conferences. All these acts not only transformed the College into a point of encounter of the university life but in a relating one cultural very important for the city.

Our schoolboys highlighted for their solidary and participative spirit. In the 60’s, every Sunday, the College participated in the construction of the water canalizations of the ‘Neighborhood of Spain’. In the following decade they created a cooperative to help of the most unfortunate classes collecting food for them.

During these last 20 years of history multiple and new activities have been organised, according with the new times, but without forgetting at any time the solidarity and the participative spirit that has always characterized to the College.

Separate chapter deserves the reforms of the College to get adapted at the new times that we live. The first important reform was done first in 1991, in which the two floors of rooms were reformed, converting the old double rooms and triples in double and single. Besides winning capacity, it was won in comfort.

In the summer of 1993, the common use floor was reformed. In it we can find the television room, the meetings room, music and computer ones  and the library. It was a very important work, since it changed the face of the College completely. In 1997, we also reformed the kitchen, but it was not the most important work.

In the summer of 2000, the two plants of rooms were rebuilt, endowing to the same of bathroom, of a comfortable embedded closet and of connection to free Internet connection 24 hours of the day. Although it got to a capacity loss, comfort has been won, with a bigger number of individual rooms and a new much more comfortable furniture.

And when we speak about history, we cannot finish without at least making reference to Don Julio's name, great person that apart from carrying out the works of administration of the College from their opening, it has been as a father for most of the schoolboys.

From here we wait and we want that the High's life continues ahead and suppose besides a good personal formation, some pleasing memories and experiences to future schoolboys, like it has supposed for all its history.
